SCD logoThe Supported Child Development Program (SCD) assists children –

  • Aged 0 – 6

  • Who have a documented developmental delay, disability and/or identified need

  • To participate fully in inclusive licensed community childcare programs such as daycares and preschools

Support may include consultation with Preschool Teachers and Child Care Providers and/or direct support from a SCD Educator.

The SCD program is family centred and values parents and guardians as significant and active members of their child’s team.  The SCD program operates within a multi-disciplinary team comprised of –

  • Parents/Guardians

  • Therapists:  Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

  • Child Care Providers

  • Preschool Teachers 

  • Medical Professionals (e.g. BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill, etc.)

Referrals to the SCD program can be made –

  • Through the Terrace Child Development Centre or

  • By a Community Service Provider (e.g. Health Unit Speech and Language Pathologist, Preschool Teacher, etc. with Parent Consent

The SCD Program and its services are free of charge and all participation is voluntary.
