What is a Speech-Language Therapist?

SLPs are professionals who deal with all aspects of communication disorders and work closely with family members and other professionals to help prevent disorders.  SLPs assist parents and caregivers to plan communication goals for their child.  An SLP will help caregivers to strengthen their child’s communication skills.  A SLP specializes in assessment and diagnosis of communication.

Using play activities, the therapist encourages the child to understand what is said to them and express what they want to communicate.
